I had altered this one as far as the silhouettes went. I had them just really dark and we decided to go with a different effect. I think it works nicely!

Women at Grant Thornton Editorial Illustration

Okay, I got a chance to snag some of the cleaned up images from the work that I had done a few months back while at Grant Thornton Chicago. This was just a bunch of random silhouettes that either Megan or another freelancer put together. I supplied the lovely walkway as well. I found that and was delighted to be able to get a good sketch since the first round didn't really work out too well. I'll post that one as well. I think some of the stuff they've put together is looking really sharp!!

Silhouettes

These were to partner with the big mountain thing...concept. Anyway, I had to re draw a handful of silhouettes as the ones that I had done months earlier were not going to suffice. I ran to the internet and tried to find all sorts of positions and walking, talking, climbing females to silhouette. There is one that looks rather silly like she's climbing a fence? It's right directly underneath the woman on the ladder with the briefcase. Well, that lady is Margaret Thatcher! I was so happy to find that picture and was glad to see such an able, wily politician climbing a fence. I tried to keep her as "Thatcher-esque" as I could. I might as well try to bolster her image as Monty Python had derided her for years and years on the Flying Circus.

GIANT MOUNTAIN

This illustration was one of the ideas for a program for Women at Grant Thornton. Apparently the even though the people deciding what image they wanted called for some sort of climbing or progress vein to the editorial illustration, they really didn't glom on to the mountain, really. In fact, they were very adverse to it. I basically was drawing blind when drawing the mountain. They wanted many many different ways to get up along with stairs and ladders, at least, those were all suggested. As opposed to not adding those elements, I usually just add them and hope for the best. I really thought it might look good but..alas, it doesn't really read too terribly well. Not well enough for the more simplistic ideal that Grant Thornton would want to see, really. They have some really nice editorial work but we don't have all that long to work on them. I did a ton of silhouettes and the mountain in one day along with a watercolor background and a sketch of three different paths leading up to the mountain. The silhouettes are for racially blind editorial illustrations so no one really gets offended. I had to do all the elements separate as they need to scan them, add the all in one file after cleaning them up. I just think in layers anymore anyway. I'ts eaier when you have to build it,after all.

Stack of money

I can't recall what this was for. I know it was for an icon Grant Thornton needed but....well, I'm sure there are a myriad of uses for an Accountancy business to use a stack of money. I rather like this pile. It's nicely arranged! The fact that it's a stack of 100 dollar bills isn't really coming into play when I'm speaking of liking it. This scan is from a color copy of the illustration itself that I hardly had time to get. I try to be as quick as possible with getting copies of what I draw; If I like it, that is.
