Mind you, I create about six to eight of things like this a day. This one in particular, I did two versions of each, one with the Prickly thingamajigs and one without. The illustration without the Prickly thingamabobs had slightly more shading in the paddles so that the barbs (which are white and were to be colored white) would show up more one the icon was completed. The Designer was given very specific instructions for what the department was requesting and did not want any "overlap" of the "paddles" They also had a strong dislike for the stem at the bottom (which seemed accurate as I got desert photos of the cactus in question) Man, I'm boring myself just typing this.
I got the word today that it STILL was going to be changed. My new pal and fellow free-lancer Sterling was on a phone meeting while I was at his office regarding the cactus and there are a lot of changes and revisions. Oy
