An oldie

robertVT158, originally uploaded by J to the D.

So this one is interesting. I ran across this while trashing old bad artwork (yes, it happens to EVERYBODY not just me)
This was to appear in a Veggietales video to replace the Sonny Bono picture that was in some flip cards. We did a caricature so as not to get sued by the Sonny Bono camp (which had already been threatened in a Cease and Desist letter, I believe) as photo-shopping someone's face on Sonny's stupid white tux wearing pose was not cool. I did this to replace that card and I don't think Big Idea Pro. legal ever heard another word about it. I decided to make this one look as fruity as possible as it was in my power to do so. i have my fun. The person's head was Robert something something (can't recall the last name). He was the official first hired animator for big Idea. He usually had on some quite thick glasses and I'm glad I didn't have to draw those for this illustration.

Robert Ellis.

He was also color blind. How do I know this? While I was co-directing a 3-2-1 Penguins episode Robert was having all sorts of trouble making the proper color for a texture to put on a prop. I was trying to help him out when I asked if he thought the color should be more red. To which he replied "Oh, that's supposed to be red? I can't see red." I said "What do you mean you can't see red?" And he said (in a way that only Robert could say it) "I'm color blind. I can't see red." I said "Don't you think that you should have told me that when we asked you to color this prop?" He said "Yeah, I guess I just forgot."

Robert was a character. heh.

Ha, this takes me back. Way back. I still think the one you did of me was the best ever. :)

Hahahaaaa I love the color blind story. Oh me oh my. I think that I saw his twin at a TGI Fridays in Schaumburg. Of course, staring at someone who looks like that (a lumberjack, really) is hard to do when you're A) trying to determine whether or not they are your friend or B) you don't want to be "busted" by them catching you staring or else, there will be problems or C) if it IS so and so, do I really want to have that conversation that usually follows such an event?

And Yes, Bryan, You were the prettiest one! (ha! I couldn't resist)
