These are some more that I did but never posted.
Illustration! YEAH!

Alright, I finally got the cleaned up and colored versions of this. if you click on this, it will bring you to the flickr site and there is different colored version of this. One of the free lancers was willing to load up my stick drive with some of the the completed projects. Now, if you can imagine me, as an illustrator, hearing that this orchestra is to be considered an icon. I was thinking, icons are just the simple illustrations. A three row orchestra representing the wide array of musicians to me is more of a detailed illustration. I did this mostly on site which means me hunkered over a desk that is flat with only fluorescent lights. It is bothering my back quite a bit these days in order to get that amount of work done. That is the downside though. One of these days, I'll find the right massage therapist to work with. I lost the best LMT that kept me from much pain and I can't find a comparable LMT, really.
These are 2 concepts we were working on for the upcoming tax season. Speaking from experience that I feel just as confused with tax forms as this illustrates. If you click on this, it will bring you to the flickr.com site. Once there, if you want to look at it closer, just look for the grey "All Sizes" icon and you can see it in a much larger form.
I only had a little while to get this together but I kind of like the way it's happening. Since everything I normally do is only in black and white and gets digitally colored, it was nice of them to allow me some leeway as far as how to "display" this idea, for lack of a better word. It's supposed to be an editorial illustration that will explain how a company can have lots of management styles and bring them all together on one level so that all involved know (globally) how they need to be/act/manage/etc. Before I wasn't really allowed to draw in a certain style but that has been challenged and now, it seems, that I can do a better style of drawing that was rejected before. It all depended on what the other companies were doing. They stepped it up in the UK and now we are answering back as best we can with some better composed artwork.
Mind you, I create about six to eight of things like this a day. This one in particular, I did two versions of each, one with the Prickly thingamajigs and one without. The illustration without the Prickly thingamabobs had slightly more shading in the paddles so that the barbs (which are white and were to be colored white) would show up more one the icon was completed. The Designer was given very specific instructions for what the department was requesting and did not want any "overlap" of the "paddles" They also had a strong dislike for the stem at the bottom (which seemed accurate as I got desert photos of the cactus in question) Man, I'm boring myself just typing this.
I got the word today that it STILL was going to be changed. My new pal and fellow free-lancer Sterling was on a phone meeting while I was at his office regarding the cactus and there are a lot of changes and revisions. Oy
Well, a few weeks ago, I was asked to draw a prickly pear cactus with "fruit?" I'm not sure what the pink things are called. This illustration was changed and I think I'm now going to be in the third round of this one.
I'm not sure what to say as the Department that requested this is changing everything they can about it since they were offended at being charged. The never ending saga is reaching all free lancers in Marketing.
I drew this back in July for Grant Thornton but finally got to uploading it. This one was a tough illustration to do as I wasn't working at home on this one. I was hunched over for most of the day trying to get every orchestra member just right. I haven't seen the cleaned up version or the color version. I'm usually without a computer, not on the server so I can't really grab the finished work handing this over.
