Another Oldie

This was a surprise to find! Now, in this world of Painter, I'd much rather have used THIS sketch to paint the illustration of Joe. I did an okay one, but really loved this sketch and thought it was very flattering and looked like Joe; 2 very good things for making that illustration. Of course, now, my old WACOM tablet no longer works with my new laptop which means, I have to buy new hardware so I can do more sketches to use with Painter. Oh well, I'll just post this as a "I'm glad technology enables us to use the sketch we DID like instead of having to start all over and resketch an "ok" version when it could have been fantastic"
Run-on sentence, I know. I'm not an English major, darnit, I'm an illustrator, so deal wit it. Yeah, I left the "h" off of with on purpose to *sound* *more* *street*. Did you read that as white as I wanted it to sound? :) Great!

This one is NOT a link to flickr.com. It's not outlined in black so I'm sure you already knew that but not sure if all browsers do that, so maybe you didn't. Another run-on sentence. I like to throw those in for free!

An oldie

So this one is interesting. I ran across this while trashing old bad artwork (yes, it happens to EVERYBODY not just me)
This was to appear in a Veggietales video to replace the Sonny Bono picture that was in some flip cards. We did a caricature so as not to get sued by the Sonny Bono camp (which had already been threatened in a Cease and Desist letter, I believe) as photo-shopping someone's face on Sonny's stupid white tux wearing pose was not cool. I did this to replace that card and I don't think Big Idea Pro. legal ever heard another word about it. I decided to make this one look as fruity as possible as it was in my power to do so. i have my fun. The person's head was Robert something something (can't recall the last name). He was the official first hired animator for big Idea. He usually had on some quite thick glasses and I'm glad I didn't have to draw those for this illustration.

This is for an illustration that was to have a hot air balloon floating over it, containing several business type people. I drew the hot air balloon, just like they requested. It was to look like it was a building ( an office building ) but ,be filled with hot air. I did about five different versions I think. # versions of the skyline, this being my favorite. The others were loose and took no time to do. They just wanted something like....four lines to express a cityscape which.....well, doesn't always translate well when you're going from cool sketchy concept to polished final. I hate the loss in translation too, but what can we do?
