Lennox Lewis vs. Briggs

Lennox Lewis vs. Briggs, originally uploaded by J to the D.

I wish I would have had more time to work on this but I painted it in one night for my brother and his wife. This is a larger scale painting on museum canvas so it's substantially weighty.

I painted this while I was in college, perhaps sophomore or freshman year. It's Lou Gehrig tagging out a fellow Yankee, which is why he's smiling. Everybody loved this painting. However, me and the Chairman of Illustration at that time had both wondered, why do they like this one instead of other work I had done. We agreed is was a decent painting but everyone seemed to be going nuts after it. Anyway, I still like it but it's not my best work. I gave this to my brother Marc and it is hanging at their house way down South.

The Beach People post disappeared.

For some reason, the last post was missing when I came back here. I didn't remove it and I have no idea how it was removed. I'm on dialup through my Bluetooth and cannot really upload an image or anything. I'll upload some more once I have a stronger connection.
The heavens have opened up and unloaded a metric ton of snow on us all. I love how the description is "oh we got 8 inches of snow" like it's as tall as an action figure and just as harmless. They need to start describing it in the amount of weight you're going to be shoveling out of your driveway, or trudging through by walking or driving. I'll be walking through the snow. In fact, I got a BIG splash of dirty sludge splashed on me by some fellow Chicago-an who needed to barrel though the intersection filled with pedestrians and other vehicles. Christmastime is still a wonderful time though.
